Description
**140g clear wax housed in screen-printed jacket designed by Bill Kouligas and Kathryn Politis** The lone raver returns to PAN with his first new material since 2012’s widely acclaimed ‘Diversions 1994-1996’ and ‘Dutch Tvashar Plumes’ sides. In the meantime he’s been a busy lad, remixing Special Request, Mount Kimbie and Cosmin TRG, and honing his A/V show with CYRK co-founder, Dave Gaskarth, not to mention prepping imminent, excellent new album, ‘Koch’. But back to the here and now – the ‘Kuang EP’ seems to occupy multiple dimensions at once, refracting dancefloor and bedroom head-space and detached, parallel worlds torn between the impending weight of history and accelerated cybernetic culture. But most crucially it sparks a real raw rave nerve, rolling from the bittersweet breakbeat roil of ‘Kali Wave’ to the reduction of sub-heavy dub-house/jungle dynamics in ‘Mimas Skank’ on the A-side, whilst the B-side’s ambient detachment, ‘Girl Drop’ expands on the temporal fragility of rave bliss with 12 mins of radiant chords rent as either spectral sublime or precipitous dread, depending your perspective. Warmest recommendations.
