Dreamlike and diverse, there are a thousand words to describe this connected Kiwi’s sound, but for some reason these two seem the most fitting. Connan Hosford aka Connan Mockasin, originally one-third of Connan and the Mockasins until the band became a solo act some four years ago, has collaborated with Fat Boy Slim and toured with such diverse artists as Late of the Pier and Crowded House. He also worked with Charlotte Gainsbourg on the track “Out Of Touch” which featured on her concept-album “Stage Whisper”. The classically trained jazz musician, signed to Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound label, has managed to dig out his own genre – although not always the most accessible or the most coherent it’s a feat which in itself is worth your attention. The four live tracks of this special RSD release were recorded during a live show at La Cigale in Paris on 2012, Merch the 25th. You can feel the subtle atmospheres Connan and his band can produce on stage.
