Description
From his former base in Kansas City, Huerco S has navigated a path into the collective affections of us here at Juno HQ via a series of superb 12″ emissions for Wicked Bass, Opal Tapes, Proibito and Future Times which have demonstrated this young producer to be a master of gauzy, lopsided, recycled house. A mark of the producer’s rising status is made with his debut album, Colonial Patterns, for Daniel Lopatin’s Software label which reveals itself to be an ambitious collection; Huerco S’s lo fi production touch is very much evident here but he rarely seems concerned with outright house tools, instead looking to draw you into an introspective otherworld. “Plucked From The Ground, Towards The Sun” and “Ragtime USA” are immediate highlights but this is an album whose inner beauty reveals itself over repeat listen. Contender for LP of 2013!
