The new single from Toro Y Moi using his dance music alias Les Sins. Chazwick Bundick (you can see why he calls himself Toro Y Moi…) obviously has a nose for current trends in music because A-side track “Fetch” will have the nu-garage movers and shakers looking over their shoulders to check out the competition. Combining skippy garage beats with spliced, looped vox panned from speaker to speaker (not quite Todd Edwards, but very 1996), the track is then dusted with a synthwave sparkle and treated to a mid-tempo ride. Flipside cut “Taken” offers something more leftfield, combining sloppy house beats with keyboard horns, skittering percussion and lush, emotive synth washes. Jiaolong keeps up the essential grooves.
