Having previously kept their re-edit series in-house, Leeds-based crate-diggers Joe’s Bakery have invited Moton (AKA London veterans Diesel and Dave Jarvis) to deliver the latest release. Those who’ve followed the Moton Records Inc series (active since the ’90s) will know what to expect: expert re-rubs of obscure material that get the right balance between dancefloor chops and home listening selections. Look out for the odd shuffle and electric piano solos of “Moody Blues”, the percussive early ’80s, synth-heavy live disco brilliance of “Zoo” (yes, it’s definitely Balearic) and the hazy, midtempo disco-funk of “Bumps”. It’s getting progressively hard to find worthwhile re-edit 12″ singles, but this one’s a genuine killer.
